Social events can be scary! Use these reminders to help you stay calm when you’re feeling anxious. Let us know below if any of them help you!
️⃣ Arrive early (or at a time that feels right for you) – Coming in before a crowd forms can help ease into the space, while arriving later might reduce small talk time.
️⃣ Set a small, achievable goal – Instead of “I have to be social,” try: “I’ll introduce myself to one person” or “I’ll stay for 30 minutes.”
️⃣ Bring a comfort item – A fidget, a familiar drink, or even wearing something soft can help ground you.
️⃣ Find an anchor – If there’s a quiet corner or a friendlier face, use them as a safe point to return to when you need a breather.
️⃣ Have a go-to conversation starter – A simple “Have you been to one of these before?” or “What’s been your favorite part so far?” can take the pressure off.
️⃣ Give yourself permission to take breaks – Step outside, go to the bathroom, or check your phone if you need to reset.
️⃣ Know that you can leave when you need to – There’s no rule that says you must stay the whole time. If you feel done, that’s okay.
️⃣ Practice self-compassion – Feeling anxious isn’t a failure. You showed up, and that’s already a big step.
️⃣ Know that you’ve got this, you’re going to be okay, and we’re here to support you <3
